Discovery Bags and Books

August 7, 2020

Camden Public Library offers many popular themed Discovery Bags for families to borrow.  S.E.A donated funding for three bags that give teachers, parents, and grandparents, and other community members a way to examine the water in our watershed.  With guidance from Esperanza Stancioff, Climate Change Educator at University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Manager of Youth Services Amy Hand assembled trawls, secchi discs, microscopes, notebooks, and laminated photographs of the creatures people were likely to find, and created the three new Discovery Bags.  When it is safe again to do so they will be available for exploration of local waterways and the ocean.

To supplement the Discovery Bags, S.E.A. also donated funds for books about water and the watershed.  Miss Amy multiplied the effects of this donation with astute purchasing, and reports that she can never photograph all of them at the same time because they circulate so often.
